Activstudio Curriculum Developer course

OVERVIEW
Our level 2 courses continue to develop your skills with the software. The main emphasis, however, is on good classroom practice. By successfully completing this course you will be awarded an Activstudio Curriculum Developer certificate. A teacher awarded this level of accreditation will have created outstanding flipcharts for use in their classroom and will also have shared their flipcharts and ideas with other teachers.

CONTENT
This course focuses on how putting your Activstudio skills into practice in the classroom. We will show you how to create flipcharts that make the most of interactive whiteboards, helping you to take advantages of all the teaching possibilities opened up by the technology.

A Promethean expert with extensive teaching experience will guide the course. Each week you will work through a set of activities and resources. This will either be individually, in pairs or in small groups. The course encourages social learning in which experiences, expertise and resources are shared.

The level 2 course begins by getting to know your tutor(s) and other course participants. It then goes on to looking at exemplar flipcharts and the skills used to create them. You will then look at more advanced skills and good presentation techniques. Finally you will put those new skills into practice and share the results with your fellow students.

AUDIENCE
This course is aimed at practicing teachers and lecturers from any level of education.  

SKILLS
This course is taught entirely online. You will not need any prior experience or knowledge of online learning, although basic experience of email and internet use would be helpful. Technical and pedagogical support is available for the entire duration of the course.

Participants on this course should have at least level 1 foundation skills and experience of Activstudio software.

COURSE STRUCTURE
The course is run for six weeks and requires four to five hours per week of individual and collaborative work.

Week 1 - Getting started
An introduction to the course, your tutor and your fellow students.

Week 2 - Advanced features
Explore some advanced features of Activstudio and discuss what makes a good flipchart as well as creating your own flipchart.

Week 3 - Presentation techniques
Research into presentation techniques and create your own flipchart using these techniques.

Week 4 - Preparing a lesson
Looking at an example lesson plan and flipchart. Produce a flipchart which follows a lesson plan you have created, then get feedback on the flipchart.

Week 5 - Teaching with your flipchart
Use the feedback to finalise your flipchart and then teach with your flipchart.

Week 6 - Evaluating and sharing your flipchart
Evaluate your lesson and share your flipchart with fellow students. Send a parting gift to your fellow students and complete a questionnaire about the course.

CERTIFICATION
Promethean will award an Activstudio Curriculum Developer certificate on successful completion of the course. Successful completion of the course is defined as completing the required activities and producing a lesson plan and flipchart which fulfils the level 2 criteria. You will receive your certificate as a PDF.

WHAT YOU NEED

• A computer with broadband internet connection.
• Access to an Activboard. Some exercises will require you to use an Activboard with your class, but many exercises can also be performed on your personal computer. Each Activboard we supply includes five software licences enabling to you to do this.
• Activstudio version 3 or later  installed on your computer.
• Flash Player 8 or above and Adobe Acrobat Reader. All these are available free on the internet.

In the first week of the course there is an activity that ensures you have the requirements to do this course.
