OVERVIEW
This level 1 course has been developed to introduce the main features of our Activstudio software. By following this course you will have developed the key skills required to use the software effectively. By successfully completing the assessments you will be awarded the Foundation Skills certificate.
CONTENT
This course has been designed to familiarise you with the core features of Activstudio. During this course you will learn the basic skills required to create colourful and engaging flipcharts.
The course is divided into ten topics. Each topic contains numerous interactive tutorials that illustrate different software features. At the end of topics 2, 5, 7 and 10 there is an assessment for you to complete. These assessments evaluate your understanding of the tutorials.
At the end of the course we invite you to submit a flipchart to Promethean Planet. (This is optional).
There is also a 'bonus' topic on Activote. This topic is optional and is there to help you get started with your Activote devices.
AUDIENCE
This course is for anyone who wants to make the most of Activstudio software.
SKILLS
Experience of email and web use is required. No prior experience of using Moodle, or any other VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) is necessary.
COURSE STRUCTURE
You will follow the course entirely online, working individually, with access to a forum should you require any assistance.
Topic 1 - Getting started
This topic is about getting you familiar with the way Activstudio works. It will show you how to launch Activstudio and get writing straight away in front of your class..
Topic 2 - Organising your flipchart
In these tutorials we will introduce you to Activstudio’s Design Mode, showing you some time-saving techniques which are useful when preparing multi-page flipcharts for your lessons.
Assessment 1
This assessment contains 10 questions that evaluate your understanding of the tutorials in the previous topics. You must answer all questions correctly to pass the assessment.
Topic 3 - Working with text
In these tutorials we will show you a range of text options available.
Topic 4 - Working with the Shared Resource Library
In these tutorials we will introduce you to some of the Resource Library’s main features.
Topic 5 - Working with drawing tools
In this tutorial we’ll show the range of options available for drawing lines and shapes. We’ll bring them together to draw a graph. While doing this we’ll show you some options which increase the colours you can use in your flipcharts.
Assessment 2
This assessment contains 10 questions that evaluate your understanding of the tutorials in the previous topics. You must answer all questions correctly to pass the assessment.
Topic 6 - Working with images
Using the techniques described in these tutorials, you can take any image you want and place it in your flipcharts.
Topic 7 - Working with numbers
Activstudio contains a number of tools to help you work with numbers. We have been very broad in our definition of number tools, so the tools in these tutorials can be useful for teaching many subjects.
Assessment 3
This assessment contains 10 questions that evaluate your understanding of the tutorials in the previous topics. You must answer all questions correctly to pass the assessment.
Topic 8 - Working with other applications
In this topic we will show you four ways in which you can interact with other programs.
Topic 9 - Finishing your flipchart
In these tutorials we will look at the page organizer, showing you how it can be used to copy or delete pages. Later we will focus on links. We’ll then demonstrate how you can print your flipchart and finally we will show you how to add page notes to a flipchart.
Topic 10 - Working with Presentation tools
In these tutorials we will show you some of Activstudio’s presentation tools, demonstrating how you could use these tools to give focus and pace to your lessons.
Assessment 4
This assessment contains 10 questions that evaluate your understanding of the tutorials in the previous topics. You must answer all questions correctly to pass the assessment.
Certification
Promethean will award an Activstudio Foundation Skills certificate on successful completion of the assessments. You will receive your certificate as a PDF.
Additionally, you may upload a flipchart you have created to the Promethean Planet website
Activote
There are four tutorials in this topic which include:
Device Registration, Ad hoc Question, User Database & User Device Allocation.
WHAT YOU NEED
You will need a computer with a broadband internet connection. The computer must have Flash Player installed. This is available free on the internet.
